The Shocking News Came In The Form of a Lab Test

So there I was sitting outside the medical laboratory— lethargic, nervous, and was just been newly diagnosed with pre-diabetes. It was only then that it all sunk in. The person who used to always have time for exercise, healthy eating, and sleep wasn’t able to take care of himself anymore.

And since my health has always been a challenge for me, that was an alarming revelation.

Juggling Career and Health

I’m a busy entrepreneur who found time for exercise and healthy eating but not always enough time for them.

After opening my own company, things got really hectic. And when you’re running a business, sleeping less and eating unhealthy comfort food is just a given.

But then something happened: I started feeling really tired even though I had a lot of energy at the end of the day.

All those late nights made me confused about what was going on with my body. After some blood tests and consultations with doctors, they found out that I have pre-diabetic conditions!

Diabetes ran through our bloodline and I knew it was not a fun condition to have.

Struggling to change my eating habits

I knew I had to make necessary adjustments like joining diet fads.

For once, I tried intermittent fasting (IF) and keto diets — but after 4–5 months, my body rebounded back to its old habits of eating junk food again which resulted in some complications in my health.

Pasta is my guilty pleasure, and I can’t go grocery shopping without linguine or fettuccine in my cart. For the love of carbs, what must be done?

Searching for Health Stores in the City

I started eating at local health-themed shops and it was a game-changer for my health. Although I quit exercising, I still feel a step farther from the disease whenever I eat quality meals.

The only problem was, health-themed restaurants in Davao City tend to be a bit on the pricey side. That’s why for some time, when funds are tight, I would resort to cooking at home instead. Admittedly, I still eat junk food, especially when I am too tired to cook meals.

Not until I discovered The Green Bounty Kitchen.

It was just by chance that I stumbled upon the Green Bounty Kitchen while searching through the internet for healthy recipes and menus.

What caught my attention was their “green bounty” menu which featured a generous roster of vegan and organic substitutes for my favorite meals.

Always Full-House. Locals love this restaurant very much! At times, it’s difficult to reserve a table because of the heavy foot traffic but you can try to order thru Grab Food or contact them for in-house delivery.

I’ve been eating there ever since. The food is so good! Not just because of its taste but also because of its nutritional value. It’s affordable yet nutritious!

Every meal is full of vegetables and fruits which means you’ll get your daily dose of vitamins without getting sick or tired from overeating!

Sustainable Eating Habits

The Green Bounty Kitchen makes sustainable food and beverage available to the public in a way that brings out the best in its products. Part of what sets them apart from other restaurants is their commitment to using only natural ingredients, whether for vegetables, fruits, or meat.

This has been eco-friendly since most of their products are grown by farmers in Toril, Davao City. By dining there, not only I am helping ease my diabetes, but also providing livelihood to their farmers. It’s a great feeling!

Healthy Quesadilla! Yummy!

They have a wide array of healthy food from vegetables to nuts, and from fruits to snacks. It’s amazing how they have so many products in store for you to satisfy your healthy diet budget.

The employees are very friendly and kind, and the place is maintained at a high cleanliness standard — a true health food haven. I strongly recommend you try their store out if you live in the city or anytime you visit Davao.

Takeaway:

If you are like me, you probably go out of your way to eat healthily. But, eating healthy can be expensive and uncomfortable. I’m lucky enough to live in a great place, where I can afford to eat well but don’t want to spend my life slaving away in the kitchen preparing healthy meals every night.

When you eat healthily and limit yourself to a balanced diet for several months, you will notice the positive effects it gives you. You’ll get more energy and feel great about yourself, plus you’ll be healthier in the long run.
